Often individuals turn to therapy as a last resort to deal with elements of their life that have become unmanageable. Usually, they have used all the resources that they are aware of to cope and feel that they have no other alternatives.

I work from a developmental attachment standpoint, which means I approach care through inquiry of how an individual developed the coping tools they are using that are no longer working in their life. In essence, knowing where we have come from and what we have come through can help to inform our healing path. Through a person-centered lens and the client as the expert on their life experiences we can create an environment of growth and healing.

I have found that through this approach individuals can create a greater sense of who they are and what change they want to see in their lives while removing shame as the motivator.

Areas of focus/specialties

I am a Registered Psychologist and I graduated with my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Athabasca University with a focus on trauma informed care for first responders in the medical field. I have intensive training in EMDR, EMDR for children, EMDR for Attachment, and working with disordered eating concerns. For the past 10 years I have worked with clients that struggle with anxiety, trauma, depression, substance use, grief, and eating disorders. I have worked in the public, private, and non-profit spheres throughout my career, focusing the majority of my work in rural locations providing services for individuals that might not otherwise have access to mental health resources. I feel that it is an honor to do this work and I am excited to be part of this team to offer further resources to additional communities and people.

More than My Work

I love what I do. I am extremely passionate about the change that can happen when we stop shaming ourselves for doing what we had to do to survive and instead offer compassion to ourselves to learn new ways of being that support us to live better.

I am a proud fantasy nerd, but particularly love Disney. I love classic and modern fantasy and often use pop culture fantasy as metaphor and connection within my professional practice. I do somewhat dabble in Sci Fi, but Disney magic is a way of life in my household.

Movement for joy is the way I find health and wellness in my day-to-day life. I enjoy Zumba, High Fitness, Yoga, Pilates, dance, walking, hiking, and am learning to enjoy running. I feel that finding movement that feels good to our bodies and spirits is important to create health and wellbeing in all aspects of our lives
