Perinatal Mental Health Concerns

Are you struggling with your mental health after having a baby? Are you wondering what is normal baby blues or mom worry and what is postpartum anxiety or depression? During pregnancy and after giving birth, perinatal mental health often emerge. Prenatal anxiety and depression can make expecting moms feel unusually worried or down, impacting their well-being. After the baby arrives, the “baby blues” can cause brief mood swings and tears, but sometimes it evolves into more serious postpartum depression, which affects daily functioning and bonding with the baby. Postpartum anxiety involves overwhelming fears, while postpartum OCD brings intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors about the baby’s safety. Some moms experience postpartum PTSD after a traumatic birth, leading to flashbacks and anxiety. Perinatal bipolar disorder, with its extreme mood swings, and postpartum psychosis, a rare but severe condition with hallucinations and delusions, are other concerns. A therapist that specializes in Mom's Mental Health can help manage these issues, offering support and effective treatments to ensure both mom and baby are able to thrive again.

Depression
